I’m convinced that these creamy Strawberry Banana Smoothies can solve nearly all of your problems! Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but they will at least distract you from your problems with AMAZING flavor as well as loads of vitamins and minerals.

This easy smoothie recipe is filling enough for a meal, but I love pairing it with some simple granola, a protein muffin, or energy bites if I have a busy day ahead of me. This smoothie is super versatile and can easily be made dairy-free with just a few substitutions if needed. Try this next time you want a sweet but healthy snack!

Smoothie Ingredients

This easy strawberry and banana smoothie recipes comes together with few ingredients:

  • Frozen strawberries and frozen bananas – Using frozen fruit eliminates the need for ice, making your smoothie taste super flavorful instead of watered down. Frozen banana blends into a super creamy texture as well, giving this recipe that milkshake consistency we love.
  • Yogurt and milk – These add protein while also boosting the creamy texture. I used dairy versions, but you could easily use non-dairy alternatives if you prefer to keep this lactose free. The higher the fat content, the creamier it will feel.
  • Honey – Raw honey is a great way to sweeten your food while also adding nutrients! Feel free to swap this with maple syrup, sugar, or a low-carb sweetener if you prefer.

How to Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth! Yes, it really is that easy. This healthy strawberry smoothie comes together in under 1 minute. Taste it and adjust. If you want it thinner, add more liquid. If you like a sweeter smoothie, add more honey.

What Type of Yogurt Should I Use?

Any kind you’d like! You can use plain yogurt, but I bet strawberry or banana flavored yogurt would also be delicious in this simple smoothie recipe. Greek yogurt would add protein, kefir yogurt would give you more probiotics, or French yogurt would give you a super duper smooth texture.

Different yogurts have different levels of sweetness and thickness, so you may need to adjust the honey and milk to meet your preferences. This makes it an extremely customizable recipe, perfect for the whole family.

Can I Make This Dairy-Free?

Of course! You can easily tailor this healthy strawberry banana smoothie to suit your dietary restrictions. Use your favorite non-dairy milk… Oat milk gives it the thickest, creamiest texture, but almond milk, coconut milk, and others work great, too. Dairy-free yogurt is often easy to find at the store, too. Technically any liquid would work, so feel free to use orange juice or even water if you’re not looking for a super luscious texture.

What can I add to make this classic strawberry banana smoothie recipe healthier?

Smoothies are so versatile. You could add protein powder, collagen, chia seeds, or ground flax meal for nutrition boosts — Just remember that they also add a lot of bulk, so you may need additional liquid. Consider making it a green smoothie by adding spinach or kale! Also, there are tons of antioxidants in cocoa powder, so that’s a great excuse to make this chocolatey!

Tips and Tricks

  • If you make more of this than you can drink in one sitting, simply pour your leftovers into an ice cube tray and freeze! Later you can pop those into a blender with a little milk or juice for a quick and easy snack you don’t have to measure.
  • If you cannot have bananas but still want a smoothie with an amazingly creamy texture, replace those with frozen avocado! You may want to add more sweetener due to the low sugar content in avocado, but you also may enjoy the milder flavor.
  • If your blender struggles with smoothies, check your user manual! Depending on how yours was designed, it may work best with types of ingredients layered a specific way.
